Established in 1993, Istanbul-based By Sound Creative Technics provides technical production rental services throughout Turkey and neighbouring regions, supplying top-class sound, lighting and stage equipment for a diverse range of events.
Recently, the company made a substantial investment in Outline’s flagship loudspeaker system. The acquisition includes 24 GTO line-array elements, 24 DBS 18-2 subwoofers, 24 Mantas compact line-array enclosures, a Newton FPGA processor and a complete, ready-racked power, rigging, accessory and cabling solution.
Company Director and Partner Sarper Ulusel describes the selection process and why BCT have chosen Outline:
“Our goal in choosing a new audio equipment brand was to find something unique and impactful for the Turkish market, not just another popular name. We spent about a year evaluating different brands, looking for one that offered us more than just market presence. Our criteria were based on technical capabilities and the potential to offer something different in a crowded market. With a history spanning 30 years in the industry, we’ve had the opportunity to work extensively with various speaker brands for tours, festivals, concerts, launches and numerous other events.”
“Our first encounter with Outline’s products was with the GTO during a live concert setup and what struck us initially was the flexibility of the Newton device; its intuitively-designed user interface allows such easy adjustments and system control. Following this, the performance of the GTO system itself left a lasting impression – the combination of high SPL, total lack of distortion and even coverage throughout the venue were remarkable.”
“Outline’s products stood out clearly among four final contenders for our prospective purchase. The Newton device and power amplifiers in particular stood out for their technical excellence and reliability but we also saw the potential in Outline’s technology to bring something new to the Turkish market, a region where they were not yet widely recognised. A visit to the Outline factory was a turning point, where we saw first-hand their dedication to quality and innovation. This visit showed us that choosing Outline was more than just selecting a brand; it was about partnering with a company that shares our commitment to high-quality audio experiences. We believe this decision will help us set new standards in our market and provide our clients with exceptional audio solutions.”
As so many professional users around the world have already discovered, the Newton processor delivers exceptional flexibility in operation and handling multiple audio protocols simultaneously.
“This versatility is a significant advantage in a market that values adaptability and precision” notes Technical and Operational Director, Fatih Siranli. “The low latency and high processing capacity of the Newton’s FPGA-based design are critical for our work, especially when it comes to synchronising with various measurement programs during sound system setup. Additionally, one of the most crucial aspects of Newton is its ability to work with different protocols. This is incredibly beneficial for a company like ours, which uses a variety of sound systems. The ease of integrating Newton into these diverse systems without compromising on performance or reliability is a significant advantage, making it our preferred choice of processor.”
Outline’s GTO system occupies its own special place in the global market for several reasons but in particular due to its patented D.P.R.W.G. horn structure. This unique design ensures seamless transitions and perfect angles both horizontally and vertically between stacked speakers, which is crucial for sound consistency and quality. Throughout the year, BCT handle numerous events including festivals, concerts and political rallies, with crowds of up to 90,000:
“The GTO’s performance in these diverse and demanding environments has been exemplary, meeting the high expectations of both our team and our clients” enthuses Siranli. “The system’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality sound across such a broad range of event types and sizes underscores its versatility and reliability. Our purchase of the GTO system generated considerable interest and excitement among artists, project managers and sound engineers and the feedback from those who have used and experienced the system has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Just like any business when making a significant investment, BCT have thought long and hard about the likely return on their spend. Ulusel concludes, “We envision a strong return from our investment in Outline products and technologies, in terms of both technical capacity as seen from the market and the increased efficiency of operating sound systems aimed at different applications from within the same ecosystem.”
“Our business is truly committed to concert events in large stadiums, a highly competitive market specifically targeted by more than one loudspeaker systems manufacturer. Expanding our rental inventory with a wider range of Outline solutions allows us to maximise the audio experience to a bigger share of the audience, increasing our odds against the acoustic challenges that large stadiums pose to sound reinforcement. Instead of trying to supply whatever brand of sound system the end-clients write on their tender, boosting the technical strength of our competence with Outline diverse solutions pays higher dividends in the prospective expansion to more market segments.”
