In the centre of Utrecht, in the multicultural Lombok neighbourhood, the biggest Mosque in Holland has been built, offering a variety of areas where high intelligible sound was required.
Not only because of its size but also the area where the Mosque is built is unique in Holland and perhaps even in Europe, within a five minutes’ walk from the Utrecht Central Station.
In the Mosque, open to all religions, visitors not only find the three praying levels but also a silence area for other religions, a splittable conference room, offices and educational rooms.
The mosque has been designed by architect Ishak Önen and the interior was designed by the chastened interior designer, Semih Irtes from Istanbul. In 2009 the start for building this challenging project was given the green light and the 11m euro needed was raised by Turkish communities from all over Europe.
For such a challenging project, the board required the most sophisticated sound system for all important areas / rooms and finally chose the Pan Beam systems from Pan Acoustics.
Supported directly from the factory, Elektro Pamuk from Duisburg (Germany), a specialized Mosque sound system installer created the sound system covering all praying areas and splittable conference room.
Elektro Pamuk installed in total 16 digital steerable Pan Beam systems and a preset switch, offering all required preset settings like connecting, disconnecting and setting changes for each individual loudspeaker, depending on the requirement for use in all situations.
