Pangolin’s new FB4 card on show at PL+S 2015

At PL+S 2015, Pangolin presented the FB4, a new hardware control platform that enables to control fixtures without the need for a computer between console and fixture.

The FB4 hardware is compatible both with QuickShow software and  BEYOND software, the card  has an OLED colour display OLED, proprietary network connection and SD (for up to 64 GB). The OLED display has a range of tools to simplify the creation and control of the laser, including safety, colour, geometrical correction, system and network settings, dimensions, position and beam rotation, and much more. FB4 can also be configured with the addition of I/O DMX/RDM and ILDA, for those who want to have much more personalized control.

As Justin Perry informed us, FB4 is a versatile tool that is compatible with all major protocols, including ILDA, DMX, ArtNet, MIDI and OSC, it can be controlled directly via PC, using Pangolin’s QuickShow software, or with an SD card containing information from QuickShow, enabling to control the content remotely with a lighting console or a DMX control surface.

FB4 also works automatically, by simply uploading the contents to the SD card and activating them directly from the display without using a computer. The auto-play functions also include an internal that enables to start and stop the shows automatically without requiring manual or remote intervention on the fixture.

FB4 comes in four models:

  • FB4 standard with main FB4 card, OLED display, network port and SD memory card;
  • FB4 RDM/DMX with main FB4 card, OLED display, network port and SD memory card and I/O RDM/DMX;
  • FB4 ILDA with main FB4 card, OLED display, network port and SD memory card as well as ILDA-in and ILDA-through ports;
  • FB4 MAX with main FB4 card, OLED display, network port and SD memory card, I/O RDM/DMX, ILDA-in and ILDA-through.
