With the S21 DiGiCo is clearly stating its intentions to work with the entry-level market, and this surely means lower prices compared to its bigger brother of the SD line (starting right from the S11 …). At the same time, the S21 uses, just like the rest of the production range, Stealth Digital Processing, FPGA-based technology as well as two big touchscreens, integrated USB2 connection for audio I/O, two Ethernet connections, 21 faders, 24 IN with relative preamps, a complete set of internal effects and dynamics, two DMI (DiGiCo Multichannel Interface) ports for expansion with Dante or MADI cards, and many more important features.
The only thing – in our opinion – that is not the same level as the rest of the SD series, is the general finishing of the mixer that is in any case, really well made. But the answer to this comment is easy: with the same finishings of the higher level models and a higher price would it still be called SD1? Each to his own…
