It must be time to take a stroll down the East End’s Brick Lane to The Old Truman Brewery where ABTT are holding their annual Theatre Show on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th June. Nestled in the heart of the Main Hall at Stand 61 is where visitors will find this year’s offerings from d&b; a formidable line up designed to whet everyone’s appetite when hunting for that extra tasty titbit for the pro audio platter.
To describe the D80 as simply a new amplifier is not telling the whole story. On show for the first time in London, the D80 represents the culmination of a development programme that, as Product Manager Marc Weber explains, “Will fulfil the expectations of a d&b product well into the future.” The slimmer visual appearance belies the increase in power (4000 Watts per channel) and the inclusion of PFC (Power Factor Correction) that maintains optimal performance when running from any heavily loaded mains supply.
A slinky design and sophistication go hand in hand with the newest addition to the d&b product range. The xC-Series column loudspeakers from the installation specific White range have been developed to deliver the highest levels of speech intelligibility in the most awkward of acoustic environments without compromising on aesthetics. While the Ti10 from the established T-Series will be back at the show, proving that discreet integration can also be achieved with the installation versions of selected Black range products. The Ti10s will be supported by the award winning B4-SUB, a loudspeaker that realizes a unique and patented cardioid design. This Plywood Signal Processing (PSP) technique not only saves one amplifier channel including its signal processing, it also simplifies the setup and wiring of the system as it only requires a two wire cable feed.
Oran Burns and Steve Jones of d&b Education and Application Support will both be contributing to the seminar and workshop program. On Wednesday at 14:30 in the seminar room at Corbet Place, Oran will present, ‘Your Bottom End: Careful Where You Put it.’ Oran will demonstrate how to distribute low frequencies evenly over an audience, whilst minimizing unwanted energy elsewhere. While on Thursday visitors will be given the opportunity to take a closer a look at what the D80 has to offer, in ‘Absolute Efficiency – Less Really is More’ presented by Steve in the Workshop Area of the Main Exhibition Hall at 12:15. Later in the afternoon, the ever-enthusiastic Mr Jones will return but this time in the Test Bench with ‘CPL – Your Best Friend’. Schedule details for the Test Bench will be available at the show.
