Meeting Project Chose Panasonic Projectors for Les Troyens Opera

On the stage of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan April 8 to 30, five-act grand opera Les Troyens (Libretto by Hector Berlioz – A new production of the Teatro alla Scala co-production with the Royal Opera House in London, San Francisco Opera and the Wiener Staatsoper) involved in its set design audio – video, a 3-chip DLP 20,000 ANSI lumens Panasonic PT – DZ21K projector.

Meeting Project, the technical sponsor of the Teatro alla Scala in 2007 and supplies all the necessary technical equipment for this opera, he had already chosen the same Panasonic Projector’The Zar’s Bride’.

When Les Troyens was on stage at the Royal Opera House in London, local production has chosen to use two 10,000 ANSI lumens projectors Panasonic PT – DZ10 DLP. At that time, the coexistence of these two machines led to a significant increase in the black; Meeting Project for this specific reason, after being selected by the Teatro alla Scala to be responsible for the audio and video of Les Troyens, has chosen to integrate a model of only 20.000 ANSI lumen projector, PT – DZ21K.

‘Since we have used for the’Zar’s Bride’, the projector was already at the theater, and has given excellent results at the scenic, especially in terms of brightness and absence of noise – which is vital in a theater context. Previously, he success we’ve had to replace other brands with Panasonic PT – DZ21K after specific requests of the director, in order to solve the related problems of noise’ said Fabio Fraomene, Meeting Project’s Multimedia and Video Specialist. The machine was located on the roof of the royal box connected to the optical fiber. The fiber has enabled the DVI video signal to travel. The fiber traveled through the DVI video signal and the network to remote it. A Hippotizer Media Server with a content -processing software from the machine is connected to the projector.’After entering the commands of the lights console located in the control room, it was also possible for us to the projector remotely via Ethernet, to achieve both opened and closed the shutters’ said Fraomene.

The ‘shutter timed’, i.e.the possibility to control and timing of opening and closing of the lens, which is an important feature of this projector, released crucial for the production.’ This timing is very important when you have to work – as usually happens in a theater – in real-life situations and totally dark. In these moments the lights are turned off completely, so it can happen that the black projector is actually to be visible and able to fully close the shutter button, but do not suddenly setting a timetable for the closure of zero to ten proved to be providential for Le Troyens timed and the opening of the damper was also useful to avoid the ‘hit the light’ when he had the lighting to be switched on again.

Then Meeting Project has reported being very satisfied with the results achieved with PT – DZ21K, in particular for the absence of noise that provides, for its light and compact design and its ease of use. Furthermore, Meeting Project liked the fact that the security of having 4 lamps working properly, which ensured a smooth and continuous projection.

Finally, it must be given the benefit of warping inside the machine, as it has allowed us to adapt the projection of an irregular surface (in the case of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan to a crooked wall with recesses), thanks to a simple mapping geometry, carried out by the machine itself.

‘In April, we contribute to the creation of’Quartet’, produced by Teatro alla Scala and staged at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, directed by La Fura dels Baus. For this work we used three Panasonic projectors of the same model, re- one screen through the Edge Blending machine, which has once again demonstrated its versatility in different environments and complex’ said Meeting Project.

The same satisfaction with the choice of Panasonic projector, which proved to be positive and successful, it was confirmed by the Teatro alla Scala.’As Teatro alla Scala, we have to look at the spectacular performance of the machine, there is no doubt that our sponsor, Meeting Project, made a winning choice in favor projector Panasonic PT- DZ21. When the director and set designer asked me achieve specific situations, and the operator didn’t find any difficulty to achieve in a very short time, meant that the machine is clearly phenomenal!’ said Elio Brescia, Assistant Director of Commissioning at the Teatro alla Scala.

‘PT – DZ21K is the projector that has opening’enlightened’ and the ceremonies of the Olympic Games of London 2012 closing. A revolutionary product for the market of the staging and events prior to its introduction to the market, there was no possibility to obtain a brightness of 20,000 ANSI lumens with a light and compact, and we are pleased that a place of excellence, such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, through a partnership with Meeting Project, chose to adopt our technology for a’work so important,’Daniela Karakaci, Visual System Solutions BU, Panasonic PSCEU.
