Outline – Stacks of Power for Beethoven Rocks Tour

Last week, rental company Eko Geluid & lichttechniek, based in Silvolde NL, took delivery of a massive Outline point-source system.

Eko is now using it on the Beethoven Rocks tour – www.beethovenrocks.nl – for which they needed a very powerful and compact stack PA system. After testing, the Outline system was chosen due to its impressive sonic performance, its light weight and small size.

Eko’s Outline system is composed of eight Outline Doppia II 5040, two Outline Doppia II 9075 and twelve Outline DBS 18-2 subwoofers, all are driven by nine Outline T-Series amps (5 & 11) whilst the signal processing is managed by Outline Genius 24.

The Doppia system features a power:size ratio that is unique in the point-source system scenario. It has a volume of just 0.25 m3 and weighs 55 kg, in spite of its four large-diameter components and the sturdy fibreglass waveguides loading the mid-high frequencies (LF 2 x 12” – MF 1 x 10” – HF 1 x 3”). It has a peak SPL of 139 dB @ 1 metre with a frequency response ranging from 61 Hz to 19.7 kHz.

Eko’s owner Erik Koster, states: “Nowadays, it seems the market only thinks in terms of line arrays, but I can assure you that on many occasions a well-balanced conventional stack PA system is still a better choice than a poorly positioned line array system. The bands we serve all demand very high audio quality and Outline delivers just that.”

Axel Nagtegaal, owner of The Audio Specialists (Outline’s distributor for Benelux and Germany), adds: “Outline is one of the few pro audio brands manufacturing powerful conventional stack PA systems as well as high performance line arrays. We realise there’s an on-going demand for these systems and Outline’s Doppia combined with DBS subs form an extremely powerful but easy to work with system that fulfils this demand.”
