If you look in the dictionary under Timeless and Legendry, you will find the same definition, ZZ Top! That Little Ole Band from Texas shows no sign of letting up after more than 40 years together. The original power trio continues to crank out the patented ZZ Top sound and delight audiences worldwide. In 2010 they continued the long tradition of Bandit Lites, also 40 plus years old, as their illumination supplier. Tour manager Pablo Gamboa, production manager Rob Kern and long time lighting designer Chris Stuba all worked with Bandit VP Michael Golden through the year to deliver Texas to the world.
The impeccable art of Stuba involves VL 3000 Spots, VL 3500 Washes, VL 2500 Spots, MAC 2000 Washes, Atomic Strobes, Color Blasts and Grand MA consoles. Bandit Jeff Archibeque travels the world keeping continuity to Stubas crew, wherever the show may be. Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard are so musically tight after 40 plus years it is absolutely scary. One man starts a riff and the other two sense it and follow. Chris Stuba is right there with them as the 4th Top as he accents the magic. The list of hits from ZZ Top is longer than this article, and the show is two solid hours of tunes you know by heart. From Jesus Just Left Chicago to Legs to Sharp Dressed Man and beyond, the high-energy show from 3 guys that barely move onstage is a true dichotomy to behold. While the music does the talking, Stubas lights do the rest, and leaves you blown away by the guys.
ZZ Top is an award-winning act that sells out wherever they go. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 by none other than Mr. Kieth Richards of the Rolling Stones. They have inspired cars, guitars, food, motorcycles, books and a long line of musical instruments along the way. They have only yet begun to boogie and the future looks bright for the Topsters! Bandit is proud to work with this great band and they share the common thread of being some of the oldest survivors in the industry, while both are at the top of the game!
